Family Home Evening Ideas from Katie Kluge

Family Home Evening
FHE changes with each stage our family goes through.  It’s drastically different now from when our kids were all babies and was drastically different then from when we had no children.  The constants being:  we always have opening and closing songs and prayers.  We alternate assignments, though HOW we assign things has changed over the years.  We involve the scriptures regularly and make sure it’s a time where our children are taught and learn about reverence, how to bear testimonies and what our testimonies are.  It’s always been a time to be together and learn together.
The Monday night following Fast Sunday, our children have PPI’s (Personal Priesthood Interviews) or just “interview” with Daddy.  We start with a song and prayer then Daddy takes each child starting with the oldest and gets to spend a few minutes talking with them in another room while I do some activity with the other children.  It gives Daddy a chance to reconnect with each of our children and allows them to ask each other questions and get reacquainted.  It’s been a wonderful experience even though our children are still young and we hope it will strengthen their relationships with their dad as they get older and grow into tougher ages.
